四川省アバ・チベット族チャン族自治州(阿坝藏族羌族)ブン川(汶川)県は四川省の西北部、青蔵高原の東南の端に位置し、東南に流れる岷江はアバ(阿坝)州の州境です。東北部には龍門山脈が、西南部には邛?山系が控え、西部の大部分は海抜3000メートル以上の高山で、なかでも四姑娘山は海抜6520メートルあります。西南部には国家クラスの自然保護区：臥龍パンダ自然保護区があります。
人口は2005年末時点で106,119人で、62％は農業に従事しています。
人口の46％は漢族（48975人）、次いで34％が羌族（35535人）、そしてチベット族（19743人・18.6％）、そして回族（1377人・1.3％）となっていて、全国に４箇所ある羌族の密集地のひとつです。
